Christmas Menu for 2007

Pictures of the LWL Christmas lunch we held here on December 6th 2006

Revisited August 2007

One year on and Wistaria is even better!  The Chef, David, has had time to develop his creations to perfection having now ruled the kitchen for just over a year.  We all felt the food had improved even though we loved it last time!  The lunch menu has greater variety and is still excellent value at only £11.95 for 2 courses and £15.00 for 3.

We started our visit in the bar and noted that the decor had changed, in fact everywhere was looking very elegant, a  reflection of Stacey's good taste.

The reason for our visit to Lymington was to meet up with HC, one of our Lads who Lunch, to thank him for all his recent great guest reviews.

Because of the variety of dishes available it was easy for us all to make different choices at each course.  Starters, Top L-R... Ravioli of baby goats cheese with Provencal sauce and crispy shallots, Pressed terrine of gammon & chicken, served with piccalilli and a la greque mushrooms, Home smoked chicken & duck with hazelnut dressed French beans, & Home smoked salmon served with herb & lemon crème fraiche.

Mains, top left, Beer battered filet of hake with chorizo cassoulet, runner beans and Dijon mash, top right, Duo of pork on herb polenta and morel sauce (belly and home made sausage), bottom left, Home made Parmesan and herb gnoccchi with roasted Mediterranean vegetables and pesto balsamic dressing, bottom right, Grilled smoked haddock with Welsh rarebit, crushed potatoes and Provencal sauce.

Sweets, below L-R, Warm chocolate fondant with mango foam and vanilla ice cream, Cinnamon sugared doughnuts with apple compote and maple syrup, Local award winning cheeses with home made oat biscuits, celery and grapes. Final choice at top of page, Fromage blanc parfait with poached peaches & lemon curd.

The food is of the highest standard, delicious flavours, delightful presentation.  And did we enjoy....... we certainly did and highly recommend Wistaria!

Visited August 2006

Since our last visit here in 2004 Wistaria has been taken over by Jon & Stacey Crouch owners of Piccolo Mondo in Milford on Sea; we had heard favourable whispers and as my husband and I (very regal) were looking for somewhere special to celebrate our anniversary with friends thought we would try it for ourselves.

The decor does not seem to have changed, it is still a very attractive restaurant with a good atmosphere and very friendly staff.  Last time the weather was freezing and we enjoyed the cosy fire in the Snug, this time it was so warm we enjoyed our G & T's out on the deck which is just to the side of the building, a lovely little suntrap.

Our table in the restaurant gave us an excellent view of the open kitchen; when we got to the coffee stage chef had started to prepare some of the dinner dishes, it was fascinating to watch him making pasta.  He also makes all the bread that is served, we enjoyed the excellent caramelised onion and caraway seed variety, very tasty!

We were very impressed with the lunch menu and such excellent value at only £9.95 for 2 courses (either starter & main or main & pud) but of course, as it was a special occasion, we had two bottles of an excellent Pinot Grigio Rosé plus starters and puds, plus coffees but it is possible to eat delicious food here for a very reasonable price!

Look at their web site for sample menus plus details of the rooms they have to let.

All the dishes were beautifully presented.  Above, our starters, L-R Goats Cheese & black pepper mousse with toasted caraway bread, Smoked fish pate with Melba toast, Grilled Sardines.

2 of us chose Glazed strips of beef with vegetable stir-fry & long grain rice (see L.) & 2 Parmesan risotto with roasted peppers & rocket salad (see R.)

Our pud choices, on left, Fresh berry Vacherin with fruit Coulis & on right Lemon & raspberry posset.

After this we all enjoyed coffees & boy were we full, it was a delicious lunch & we highly recommend Wistaria!
