The Willow Tree was recommended by a friend who lives in Winchester consequently we were rather surprised when we arrived to find the place almost empty.  It has the decor of a very old fashioned pub but our initial doubts disappeared when we tasted the food!.  There was only one member of staff behind the bar but she was very efficient & easily coped on her own.  She was very friendly & assured us that a lot of the time they are very busy " you just never can tell how many are going to walk in the door".  This just proves how difficult the restaurant trade is especially as she told us that all their food is freshly home made.

We chose Ciabatta sandwiches from the Snack Menu, mine was Bacon, Brie, & Cranberry & my friend's Avocado & Prawn.  Both were delicious, overflowing with filling, served with a massive basket of hot & crunchy chips & a very fresh & tastily dressed salad. Yummy!

We decided to share this beautifully presented Raspberry Romanoff, it tasted as good as it looks!  Followed by coffee served with bitter mints.

Drinks were only a white wine spritzer & a tomato juice for the driver.

Both the A la Carte ( which is changed every 6-8 weeks ) & the Sunday lunch menus look very interesting & reasonably priced.  Booking for evenings & Sunday lunch highly recommended.  Details of all their menus plus some great photos are on their web site.  Looks like this pub has a loyal group of regulars.

Cost £ £

Yummy factor 8/10 expect that if we'd had the A la Carte would have been higher!

The higher the "Yummy" factor, the better the food & service.  The higher the number of £ signs the more expensive.  ( Roughly one £ sign = £5 per head )
