The Wellington Arms is a charming 17th century farmhouse, very grand in its time and now a grade 2 listed hotel.  Easy to reach from Basingstoke on the A33.

The large but cosy bar/dining area has plenty seating with large comfy loungers to relax in, there is also a terrace for al fresco dining.

It has been some time since I visited this venue and was delighted with the overall experience; we were having a reunion with friends and all agreed it was a perfect place to meet up.  It's a popular restaurant with plenty of space, very attentive friendly staff and an interesting and varied menu.  Overall the food was not overpriced.  Although we didn't sample the wine, apart from my spouse who never fails to look for a good Merlot, we did enjoy spicy tomato juice which went well with a platter of mixed breads, dipping oils and balsamic vinegar which we enjoyed whilst we studied the menu and daily specials.

As we are all watching our weight and pockets we only had one course, followed by coffee, apart from my spouse who had to indulge in Sticky Toffee Pudding in case there was no dinner on the table when we came home !!  The price range for main courses are from £8 - £12 approx  There is also a sandwich menu.

Our choices were: Roast Lamb rump (perfectly pink) served on boulangere potatoes and root vegetables, Pan fried John Dory on grilled vegetables, salsa verdi, olives and topped with Rocket. - with fries as an extra, Salmon Linguini Pasta with white wine and parsley sauce and Caesar Salad with roasted crispy bacon, shaved parmesan and croutons.

We were all pleased with our choices and our total bill was £63 for four.
