Well placed on the A33 between Basingstoke & Reading, easily reached from the M3

Very attractive & comfortable lounge bar, relaxed atmosphere with helpful staff.

A good varied menu for both large & smaller meals.  We visited for dinner but some of the starters would be ideal for a light lunch.

There were 4 of us.  Starters chosen were Home Made soup of the day, served with bread.  Deep Fried breaded Somerset Brie with Redcurrant Jelly & Salad. Seasoned Spinach & Crispy Bacon topped with a Poached Egg & Cheese Sauce, the favourite choice.  Chicken Liver Parfait with dressed leaves & hot toast.  Generous portions & well presented.  Two selected Whole Plaice grilled with Chives & Sun Dried Tomatoes for main course.  Another,  Homemade Wellington char grilled Burger topped with Gruyere Cheese & Spicy Salsa served with Fries.  The last choice was a Char grilled Rump Steak with Chunky Chips, Fried Egg & Mushrooms.  All delicious, everyone happy!  The only gripe was the barely cooked vegetables & that "Chef's potato of the Day" was fairly boring as it was just plain boiled potato.  A yummy selection of breads were offered, for example Ciabatta with Olives.  Only one pudding, a cheese cake, was ordered but was tasted by all!

We all had a cafetiere of Columbian Coffee.  A bottle of House Wine plus various drinks.
