The Key at Hamble is in one of the very old picturesque houses  (a Queen Anne Grade 11 listed building) down near The Hard in Hamble.  We had a very nice meal from The Specials of the Day menu.  There was also an abundance of choice on the main menu.

Very good starters, game terrine and apple chutney, avocado and prawn in special dressing with salad, and a Greek dish of feta cheese, olives etc. all in an excellent dressing.

Our main courses,  two stir fry chicken with peanuts, noodles, Thai style in a barbecue sauce and two seafood risotto - lots of pieces of fish - and very yummy rice.

We finished off with only two puddings between the 4 of us because we were so full!!  One vanilla fruits of the forest brule and one sticky toffee pudding - excellent - and so they should be at £4.90 each.

We had a round of gin and tonics and 2 bottles of house white and 5 coffees and our bill was £120.00 .  So with tip £32 a head,  a bit steep but the food was nice and it was Hamble!!!  Yachties and all that !!!

(Bar Du Port adjoins The Key, must try this wine bar & bistro sometime.)

Yummy factor 7/10

Report SM.

The higher the "Yummy" factor, the better the food & service.  The higher the number of £ signs the more expensive.  ( Roughly one £ sign = £5 per head )
