All Four Ladies during important business luncheon in Tenerife !
We had a very enjoyable weeks "business" trip to Los Gigantes, Tenerife in November 2001.  We flew from Southampton especially to report on the standard of the restaurants and bars there to make life easier for you on your next holiday!

Poblado Marinero We have now stayed in these apartments, Poblado Marinero, in Los Gigantes three times.  They are very spacious, on The Marina, and have a wonderful pool complex which is spotless.  The pool side restaurant is called El Laguillo. Very varied menu, specialities include Spanish Omelette and excellent salads.  Everything tastes good when sat in beautiful surroundings, the sun is shining and the measures of gin are enormous!

Royce, their lovely barmaid, & Carl Dolphin Bistro & Karaoke Bar, The Marina, Los Gigantes

Tel: 922 862155         Open 11am till Late

We arrived in Los Gigantes late and the brilliant staff of this bar ( the owners are Carl & Royce Davenport, on left ) very kindly agreed to cook us ham & cheese toasties with chips.  Absolutely delicious.  We also had 2 bottles of house wine and the

We often used the bar for a night cap as it is next to our apartments.  Great atmosphere and, good sign, it's full of residents.  Carl used to be a backing singer for Shirley Bassey so his Karaoke sessions are special!

Tamara The Tamara, is a  restaurant half way up the hill from the Marina.  Inside very attractive candle lit surroundings, attentive efficient staff.  All had fish but very disappointing as dry.  Would not revisit.

Bella Napoli

Again Bella Napoli is on The Marina.  A wonderful position for a very wet day, a table inside but with a lovely view.  Very friendly staff especially the dark swarthy young wine waiter!  He introduced us to Torres La Casta Rosado which suited both the red and the white drinkers.  We drank it for the rest of the holiday, oops, I mean business trip.  All of us ordered pizzas with different toppings and they were the best we've ever had.  Very thin bases and freshly cooked.  Delicious!

Cost £ £   9/10  andsunny equivalent of a smiley!!

Harbour Lights Harbour Lights, at the end of the Marina.  Arrived full of anticipation as exterior menu looked really exciting and some of us love Mexican food.  Fajitas very disappointing, enchiladas too heavy, gambas al ajillo very watery.  Only success a leg of lamb steak which had a good flavour. Cost £ £          4/10

La Terrazza La Terraza is also on the Marina!  (We were actually planning to struggle up the hill to a restaurant in the square but this turned out to be the night of the  hurricane!)  Their warm  lights and friendly staff were very welcoming on this terrible night.  Few other places were open.  C. J. had pork chops, S. M. kebab of chicken & pork, S. A. lasagne, C.V. had a sirloin steak.  All very enjoyable except for tinned vegetables.  Excellent house white, excellent atmosphere.

Cost £ £         8/10

Miranda's Miranda's is very smart, and very busy.  Managed to get a table after 30 mins. wait.  Then waited a further 45 mins. for our food!  Their speciality is steaks or chicken served  sizzling on iron skillets.  A medium steak was far too well done and dry but they did replace it ( with an almost raw one!) and they replaced the chips as well.  The other steak was OK and so were the 2 chicken dishes but all spoilt by the long wait.  Staff not particularly friendly.  With 2 bottles of wine    Cost £ £ £   5/10

The Managers of Jessi's
Jessi was definitely our favourite restaurant!
The Chefs We discovered it on our penultimate day which was again cloudy.  The only thing to cheer us up was lunch in this delightful typically Spanish beach restaurant.  Although not on the menu we were told we could have sardines.  They were delicious!  Freshly cooked, served with bread, and eaten with our fingers! We also had a large mixed salad and Canarian potatoes (tiny new potatoes cooked in their skins in rock salt) that, for the first time on this trip were served with the correct, Mojo sauces, red, hot & spicy, and verde, milder with a mixture of lighter flavours and garlic.  At last a very Spanish lunch.
We enjoyed it so much that the next day we went back for a repeat lunch and we had dinner!  In the evening the restaurant is much smarter and busy so booking advised.  Three of us decided to have Paella which they cooked especially for us so it was very fresh and loaded with King Prawns.  C.V. had sole.  We all thoroughly enjoyed our food which, as well as tasting so good, was presented and garnished so attractively (see photos).  The staff were  attentive and very friendly. Most importantly they also stocked our favourite Torres Rose.  Cant wait to go back!

The higher the "Yummy" factor out of 10, the better the food & service.  The higher the number of £ signs the more expensive.  ( Roughly one £ sign = £5 per head )
