Visited December 2008
Visited on a recent Saturday night but it was not busy at all, sadly I think this is a sign of the times as although the food is not exactly haute cuisine we enjoyed our meal and loved the decor. It has recently had a refurbishment and the interior is delightful, modern boutique and welcoming for this time of year, a log fire. It will be a wonderful venue for Summer al fresco eating.
They have a fairly long menu and a specials board. Our starters included Baked Camembert with rowanberry & apple jelly and English mezzes. Our mains, Duck leg confit on a mixed bean, asparagus & spinach cassoulet, Baked cod lion with a pea & mint crust on mashed potato with tomato & garlic sauce and Plaice which was fish of the day on the specials board. We were given a massive dish of vegetables to accompany but as the portions are so generous we couldn't manage many! Good presentation.
No puds but cost includes pre dinner drinks and 2 bottles of wine so very good value for money. We will definitely visit again.
