JI & I drove up here to meet a great fan of LWL who has now become a friend! We were told that some people consider Kingsclere to be in Hants others in Berks so have included Sasso in both directories. Our friend assured us that she has enjoyed many evening meals here so that is our advice to you, go in the evening! She agreed that lunch was a disappointment, a shame as it is quite an attractive dining room & we had good service.

We ate from the Lunch menu, 2 courses & coffee for £10.50, their web site has not been updated as it advertises this lunch for £9.99. The web site also says "when owner Giorgio Delli Compagni is at the stoves here you will find the best Abruzzo cooking in Britain"..... I don't think he was at the stoves today!


Starters: Fillets of Sardines grilled with Olive Oil & Garlic	Button Mushrooms in a Cream & White Wine Sauce	Sliced Mozzarella & Tomato served cold with Olive Oil
	Two of us chose the Home-made Pasta served with sauce of the day of the day, fairly small portion & too little sauce for my taste, & the other choice was Fillets of Trout (there was only one!) in a butter, white wine & parsley sauce. We were served a choice of fresh vegetables.

	Things looked up when the puds arrived, on left Meringue with a Mango filling, on right, Tiramisu, the third choice, not pictured, was strawberries, raspberries & a selection of ice cream. We enjoyed a bottle of house white and the included coffees.
