The Royal Oak is a 16th century Free House in
a charming location - worth a visit to explore the surrounding area. We walked
along the canal, visited the church and also enjoyed our lunch even though it
was very busy being Good Friday. Weekends
in summer will be very busy (suggest you reserve a table) - so mid week
may be your best bet.
The menu is extensive and imaginative, very
generous servings. "A down to earth pub with hearty good food" Our
choices were - Stuffed Chicken breast with stilton & cranberries,
Greek salad with Salmon fillet, Caesar salad with tempura prawns. All
delicious at approx £10 each.
(The three course set menu @ £13.50 looked good
value. Two courses @ £10 with an added 10% service charge)
Cost £ £ £
Yummy Factor 7/10
