Re reviewed Sept 2008

Prezzo is still a very popular venue, great ambience in such an historic building but I have to say it does need some TLC here and there, especially the Loos (Still no lock on the door and its over a year since our last visit!!) a general makeover in that department is really necessary.
Nine of us went for dinner and we were seated upstairs where there are two separate dining rooms for more private get togethers.
Prices are reasonable and we were dining on a special offer (2 main courses for the price of 1) so we splashed out with adequate house wine!!
Our Antipasti starters were:
Crocchetta di Granchio (crab cakes with lime & dill dip), Insalata di Spinaci (pancetta, avocado and cherry tomatoes) Caprese (buffalo mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, herbs and balsamic glaze).

Pollo e spinaci salad

Caprese

Pizza

Pollo Fungi

Our Mains were:
Linguine carbonara, Pollo Fungi (chicken, field mushrooms, baby spinach served with gratinated potatoes), Salmone e Avocado salad (oak roasted fillet (rather small),sundried tomatoes and mixed leaves with lime & dill dressing), Pollo e spinaci salad (chargrilled chicken breast on a bed of spinach, cherry tomatoes and croutons) and of course one of us enjoyed a Pizza.

A good time was had by all but I do hope they will let us know when they have fixed up some of the overlooked areas.

Revisited May 2007

Just be aware if you are expecting to park in Aldis - formerly Waitrose - car park there is now a charge and a time limit for parking - all good things come to an end!  Best nearby car park is across the road at the Crosfield Hall. There are only a few spaces at the restaurant.

Once again we enjoyed our lunch in pleasant surroundings. The restaurant was quiet inside as most patrons were eating outside  on such a beautiful sunny day. Generally the standard of food is much the same as on our last visit with few changes to their menu but they now serve Risotti dishes which is a new addition.  (Menu details on their web site). However the service is rather slow but we didn't complain as we were happy to chat. Don't expect a quick meal or let them know you are on a tight time schedule!

Our starters were ciabatta bread with olive oil and and two of us had minestrone soup - main course choices were all pasta dishes.  There are plenty of pizzas on the menu and daily specials.  Everyone enjoyed their choices but I do feel a pasta dish should include a small side salad but that comes as an extra charge. I had a Caesar salad with mine.  Main courses are between £6-£9.  No desserts were ordered - just coffees.

VISITED MARCH 2003   Re-Visited  September 2003, & Jan 2004, pleased to report still up to standard!

A tasteful venue in the heart of Romsey offering something old and something new.  Something old because the restaurant is situated in The Manor House - a beautiful building with original beams, whitewashed walls, and tables placed in several rooms and alcoves.  Something new presented by an interestingly different take on Italian food.

The "Ladies" plus 2 enjoyed the privacy of a table for 6 in a "wine cave" - did the Management know how hazardous that could be!  We were not cut off from the other areas and so still able to enjoy the chatty buzz of the restaurant. Car parking is limited (but plenty of public parking close by - Waitrose springs to mind.)  Booking is essential for lunch.  Restroom facilities are on an upper level - stairs only.

Antipasti was available but not taken on this occasion.  We chose Chicken Sicliana (Grilled Chicken, wrapped in bacon and tomato then smothered in cheese and oven baked);  Chicken Al Funghi (Chicken with mushrooms and baby spinach pan-fried with garlic); Two main course Salads (Chicken Caesar and Chicken Bacon & Avocado);  Crespolina Porcini (Crepes filled with mushrooms and ricotta in a cream sauce and baked).  I had a Lasagne Tradizionale.  All appealingly presented and totally tasty.

Purely in the name of research we ordered Apple Crocante, Cheesecake, Chocolate Biscuit Cake, Ice Cream & Hazelnut Bombe and six spoons.  All delicious but Chocolate Biscuit Cake won by a head.

2 Bottles of House Dry White (Marche Trebbiano 2001) and an ample supply of jugged water with ice and lemon.

Excellent venue !
