Another wonderful restaurant in Oxford Street, Southampton!  There is no need for me to waffle on about the menus & the decor, go to their excellent website www.olivetree.co.uk where they describe everything far better than I can.  It is well worth a visit & shows you what an attractive venue this is.  They advertise that the Chef changes the menus daily according to what fresh produce is available.  They also ask patience as all food is prepared to order.

Four of us enjoyed a business lunch here.  I chose ( in the interests of research!) from the specials board, Turbot on a bed of Wild Mushroom Risotto with Black Olive & Caper Dressing (£13.95) delicious.  The others all had omelettes with various fillings which they thoroughly enjoyed & at approx £6 each showed that it is possible to have a reasonably priced light lunch here.  We had olives & mixed garlic breads whilst waiting for one of our party to arrive and only one pudding, a summer fruit brule.  One bottle of house white, Italian, £9.90, & coffees.

Will definitely return, as not only was the food excellent but so was the service & this included great telephone manner when I phoned to book.  Wish we had been able to linger longer, have more wine & really enjoy the ambiance of The Olive Tree.
