This lovely old pub took some finding as it's in the depths of the countryside but it was well worth the journey from Southampton.  Chidham is a very pretty small village & quoting from the pubs leaflet "A 17th Century Inn, The Old House at Home retains much of its character & role as a central meeting place for the village.  Serving a wide range of well maintained traditional beers & superb freshly cooked food, always available.  No music, just good conversation & friendly convivial atmosphere"  We were meeting friends there who had recommended it.  It was a lovely day so we had drinks in the rustic garden but chose to eat inside as the wasps are starting to be a nuisance!

Very friendly service but they were under great pressure as unavoidably severely understaffed, lots of profuse apologies, so it wasn't a problem & we weren't in a hurry!  We ordered at the bar but from then on they came to take further orders at the table.

The food was all very freshly cooked & well worth waiting for.  Our choices, shown above, Roasted Rack of Lamb, Rib-eye Steak, & Roast Beef were delicious, the meat being tender, full of flavour & cooked exactly as requested.
This is the Black Cherry Tiramisu, other puds chosen, Raspberry & Vanilla Cheese Cake & Rum Truffle.

The house white was a Gooseberry Patch Sauvignon, very gluggable.

After lunch we took a quick drive to Bosham, very pretty & on the coast, a lovely day out!

Cost £ £ £ £ £ ( but did have a lot of drinks!)
