Mono is Southampton's stylish new venue for
eating, drinking and late night scene. I visited on a Thursday in June for lunch with my Son. This is a smart, leaning towards 18/30, place.
Having said that I did not feel out of place, but then I like music, a young
atmosphere and good surroundings. The staff are very friendly and having
ordered our drinks and food at the bar, we were served at our table.
The menu is mainly pizzas and excellent they are
too. There are Panninis with varying fillings and several Salads to
choose from. Priced from £3.95 - £4.95. There is also a Lunchtime
Special from Monday to Friday, midday to 4pm you can choose any Pizzcette
(6in), side salad and a soda gun soft drink for only £4.95.
Back to our Pizzas - I had a Northern Exposure £6.50
- consisted of smoked Canadian bacon, Monterey Jack cheese and spinach on a
thin base. 12 inches of absolute heaven!! My Son had a Down Mexico
Way for £5.95 - as the title suggests this was spicy but not too hot, chicken
and jalapenos, salsa, guacamole, soured cream and nachos were the generous
toppings. Another 12 inches of heaven! The 12 inch pizzas are
from £4.50 to £6.50 and the 6 inch pizzcettes are from £2.50 - £3.95.
All pizzas are thin based and cooked fresh to order. We visited around
2pm so the place was not too busy and only had to wait about 10 mins. for our
order.
Mono Deals for food are a 2 for 1 deal on Mon,
Tues, and Wed between 4pm and 10pm for a 12 inch pizza. The drinks
promotions are again on Mon - Wed between 8pm and 12am when for example a Becks
beer is only £l.75.
Our total bill was £20 as I had a large wine spritzer
with tonic and my Son had a pint of Becks. As the pizzas were so good I am
awarding 9. P.S. check out the upstairs loos for something
completely different!!
