Revisited September 2008

A charming historic venue with both indoor and outdoor dining, with regular special offers for both lunch and dinner. We enjoyed the fixed price £11 lunch menu which was for a starter and main course plus a glass of house wine, such good value!
On arrival we were served a basket of mixed breads, also included.

Shellfish display

Fish Soup

Salmon Fillet Moule

The Loch Fyne fish soup is delicious as was the roasted salmon fishcake. Our mains were : whole south coast Plaice and cold smoked salmon fillet. All main courses included a choice of side orders so we selected mixed salad and fries.  Good friendly service, in fact I ate there twice in one week which is when I had the moule!

Visited early May 2001

Suggest early arrival for your table booking as parking in Winchester centre not easy.

Excellent fish, particularly recommend Haddock Chowder which I had when eating at the Henley- on- Thames branch last year .  In Winchester we had 2 courses for £9.95.  We did have to ask for the set lunch menu which we had seen advertised outside, however the very charming waitress redeemed herself by suggesting that we had  a bottle of Gros Plant wine as it was very similar to a Muscadet & much drier than the house white, it was excellent.  Very good value as had smoked salmon or oysters as a starter and haddock or fish pie for a main course plus vegetables.  All delicious.  There were other choices for this lunch menu & of course an A la carte menu.

Young & enthusiastic staff, very pleasant surroundings.  Very happy Loch Fyne has opened locally.

Has smoking/non-smoking areas.
