Six of us gathered here for lunch. I urge you to visit their website to appreciate the lovely country house surroundings we enjoyed & to read some of their menus in detail. From the moment we arrived you could tell the service was going to be special. SM & I were greeted upon entry to the hotel & escorted to where our friends were waiting. We all decided to go straight to our table & the attentiveness continued, as it did for our entire stay, but was never intrusive. I likened the food service to synchronized swimming, our plates were placed in front of us (& removed) simultaneously by several waiters working as one! The Maitre d' then explained to us what each of our dishes consisted of, a good idea for those of us with such short term, or non existent memories!! Beautiful crisp white table linen. Service of such high standard is rare these days and adds so much to the enjoyment of the occasion.

The lunch menu had many
choices for each course & as there were 6 of us & the menu changes
regularly I am only going to describe mine which are illustrated.
The Amuse Bouche was Lobster Cappuccino, a taster of fine things to come! We were also served some delicious canapés. This is a Salad of Char Grilled Wood Pigeon With Mango, very unusual flavours & delightfully presented in an enormous shiny glass bowl, I wonder how they managed to keep it finger print free? |

Their bread
basket is a treat, several different flavoured, warm, homemade rolls.
Rare Fillet Of Beef With Celeriac Puree, Cabbage, & Red Wine Sauce, seriously succulent! Everyone was pleased with their choices, especially the Sea Bass, faultless presentation but some of us would have liked a slightly larger portion. |

Vanilla Pannacotta With
Summer Berries. Every dish was a work of art!
The lunch was delicious with lots of little extra delicacies which made it quite special. We only had one bottle of Sauvignon & and copious amounts of water as we were all driving. Coffee was served in the conservatory accompanied by seriously yummy petit fours. Definitely an elegant venue for Ladies who Lunch! |
Sadly The Parkhill is closing for a 2 year refurbishment in October so hurry up, make a booking quickly! They are going to have a new dining room, new kitchens & a Spa. I do hope they preserve the country house atmosphere. All is not lost, they also own Simply Poussin in Brockenhust Tel: 01590 623063 & they are about to open their new hotel, Whitley Ridge Nr Brockenhurst, in October. I am sure they will be of the same excellent standard. We will be trying them ASAP!
