Revisited by JI in March 2007

Four of us went for a cheapy lunch prior to our Bridge afternoon! The Pino Grigio really helped with our bidding!!  Having tried various restaurants with the Telegraph tokens this was the best yet. I know the idea is to encourage new customers and this will surely do the trick.  The portions were generous, freshly cooked and very tasty too. Our starters of baked mushrooms served in a creamy cheezy garlicy sauce were yummy and our main courses were herby chicken breast served with interesting vegetables on the side. The fresh haddock was good too. Vegetarian pasta was also on the menu. The waitress was very efficient and extremely friendly and courteous. I'm going again, next time with my husband as I know he will be impressed with value for money!!  -  give it a try. Hythe Marina is a lovely location any time of year. Yummy factor back up to 8/10 because of the food but not happy with the loo! J.I.

Revisted by CJ & SM July 2006

I think they were short staffed so service slow but that should not have made a difference to the food.  I started with Gambas Pil Pil an all time favourite of mine, they were fine but served with 2 very thin & stale pieces of bread, when we asked for more bread it was of the same quality.  My husband's steak was disappointing & so was SM's fish.  My veal was good but served with roasted aubergines & carrots even though we had asked if there were some green vegetables.  The others were pleased, the best choice being the fresh brill.

Yummy Factor now only 7/10

Visited June 2001 and regularly (almost weekly!) since then.

The menu has not changed, still the same wide choice of seafood cooked in interesting ways. Last night I ate crab mayonnaise sans the mayo ( you may remember some of us like to think of our waistlines). Other people in our party had deep fried brie  & whitebait, all of which were fine.  Shame to say most of our group ate meat on this occasion which was cooked as requested, so everyone  very much enjoyed their meal.  My husband was particularly pleased to have freshly prepared chips served with his fillet steak. You may have noticed this is not a lunchtime report, hope the Editor lets me get away with it this time!

Yummy factor pleased to say still 8/10

Gets even better!  Have visited several times over the summer, and continuing to do so through 2002.  To view the menu visit www.lavista.co.uk .

Pleased to upgrade Yummy factor to 9/10 & award a

The higher the "Yummy" factor, the better the food & service.  The higher the number of £ signs the more expensive.  ( Roughly one £ sign = £5 per head )
