La Regatta Inside La Regatta

Visited end of May 2001

The first time I tried this restaurant, last Autumn, I was raving about it to everyone.  I had the mixed grilled fish platter & it was delicious!  I went again just after Christmas & was very disappointed, both with the fish & the service.  We decided to try it one more time & I am afraid to report things have not improved.  We had calamari & bocquerones as a starter, they were OK but the batter was very pale & soggy.  The lemon sole & the sea bass, both fresh fish of the day, were fine for the main course but a steak, ordered as medium, came dripping in blood & very rare.  The young waitress was very inexperienced & we had to keep repeating our requests for things we'd ordered.  The house white was Spanish & quite acceptable.  We also had several beers, a brandy, only one coffee, & no pudding and it was,

Cost  £ £ £ £ £

I will not go again, which is a shame as it does have an authentic Spanish "feel" about it.

Yummy factor    3/10

The higher the "Yummy" factor, the better the food & service.  The higher the number of £ signs the more expensive.  ( Roughly one £ sign = £5 per head )
