The Jolly Farmer

Very picturesque pub well known for it's food & in particular, fresh local fish.  Varied starters menu, average £3/£4 but we just had 2 portions of garlic bread for £1.75 each.  Two of us had Isle of Wight crab dressed on a bed of salad with new potatoes, one had grilled salmon and one had a grilled tuna steak.  The vegetables were fresh and the sauté potatoes were delicious!  Our puds were lovely, fresh Hampshire strawberries, a delicious chocolate creation and jam roly poly.  We did complain that the latter, as it had been micro waved, needed to be eaten immediately or it went hard, they deducted it from the bill.  We had an enjoyable evening, our one other criticism being that even though we arrived early, whilst sat at our table enjoying a pre dinner drink, we were asked 4 times if we were ready to order which made us feel a bit rushed.  However at the end of the meal all was very relaxed and we even had to ask for our coffee.  Perhaps they had hoped to use our table again, needless to say we were the last to leave staying until closing time!

Yummy factor 7/10

The higher the "Yummy" factor, the better the food & service.  The higher the number of £ signs the more expensive.  ( Roughly one £ sign = £5 per head )
