| Revisited December 2009 Delighted to upgrade Hobbits from a Bronze to a Silver Award for their excellent service. Having just brought our boat over from Ocean Village to Hythe Marina for some repairs we were cold and hungry so decided to see if Hobbits were open for lunch. We arrived almost on closing time but the chef said he was happy to serve us and not only that he was willing to cook omlettes, they are not even on the menu, for two of us! If only all staff were so amenable, I do hope the owner reads this! The rest of us enjoyed their usual excellent homemade food. We had various drinks. A good local eatery. March 2009 We enjoyed a pleasant evening at Hobbits. The scallop starters (£6.95) served on celeriac mash with crispy bacon were delicious as was the breaded brie (£5.95), both good size portions. For my main course I chose pheasant breast stuffed with Gorgonzola (£13.95) very tasty but slightly dry. We had two portions of lamb rump from the main menu, very well cooked and tender and the final choice, local venison and fois gras from the specials board (£15.95); this was also tender and cooked to perfection. We were served plenty of fresh carrots, broccoli and parsnips and we chose Dauphinoise potatoes which were creamy and delicious. We finished our meal with coffees. The staff were young and friendly but need more training. I thought the food good value for money. The cost of just over £30 a head included pre dinner drinks, a bottle of Rioja Crianza and a couple of liquors.. | Ladies Who Lunch Scoring:Quality of food Variety of menu Staff and service Ambience, setting and decor Value for Money
