The award winning Spyglass Inn is a lovely Isle of Wight family-run business right on the front at Ventnor with wonderful views over the English Channel.

We sat outside on their superb terrace on a warm sunny day. We enjoyed a Pint of Prawns in their shells, served with lemon, salad garnish, brown bread & butter £9.25, a Crab Sandwich £6.75, a portion of Chips £2 and a portion of lovely homemade Coleslaw £2.25, all large portions. Everything was delicious and our enjoyment was enhanced by the weather and the views! We shared a bottle of Muscadet £17.95.

You place your order inside at the bar where there is an enormous collection of fascinating seafaring memorabilia so even on a wet day this would be an interesting venue.

They say they source much of their produce from local fishermen and farmers. As well as the menu they have a homemade specials board. Well behaved dogs and muddy boots are welcome! Cost ££££
