LWL Bronze Award - Awarded May 2010 - Cost £££££

The Haven Café Bar & Bistro is a privately owned restaurant enjoying a wonderful location in the marina, overlooking the Solent and with stunning views of The Isle of Wight. To be able to wine and dine whilst watching “to die for” yachts and cruisers is very special!

Four of us enjoyed a good lunch in the comfortable bistro area, finishing with our coffee and desserts outside on the terrace in the sunshine overlooking the general scene.  As it was midweek it was not busy but I am certain that during the summer season you would be advised to book a table; it's obviously a popular venue for both walkers and yachties to enjoy.

The menu has plenty of choices, from starters, lite bites, ciabattas, local seafood and Isle of Wight Beef.  We chose from the daily specials lunch menu, 2 courses for £12.95, 3 for £17.95. Servings are adequate, a little on the small side but well presented and freshly cooked to order. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Starters:  Pan fried crevettes with garlic & parsley, Warm shredded duck with a mixed leaf salad, Tomato, basil & Mozzarella salad.

Mains: Fillet of Cod on minted new potatoes & root vegetables, Braised belly of pork on a bed of bubble & squeak, Linguine pasta with fresh asparagus with egg, parmesan & cream.

Desserts: Crème Brulée, Trio of Sorbet, Sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream.

With our meal we drank a bottle of Grenache Merlot House wine @ £16.50, plus an extra 2 glasses of Rioja @£ 5.50.  A very pleasant lunch!
