Finding ourselves yet again in West Cowes this weekend we decided to try Manuel’s Portuguese Restaurant ably run by brothers and sisters Alex, Ana, Ne, and Ju Prada.  They are assisted at busy times by Noltan.

We started with Pica-Pau which is rump steak cut into strips with piri piri sauce and served with bread, it was enough for the two of us to share.  My partner chose Sweet Chilli King Prawns served with a portion of special potato salad and green salad which was delicious.  I decided on Grilled Squid with coriander, boiled potatoes, parsnip, carrot, broccoli and cauliflower, quite different but very good!  Both courses were £9.99 each.

The House Wine is £13.95 and is quite acceptable, they also serve a litre of Sangria for £16.95, I shall be sampling that on my next visit!

The home made puds change daily and are good value at £2.99; we shared a Chocolate Mousse and then finished with coffees, a double espresso at £2.00 and a large filter at £2.10 plus two liquors.

We received a warm welcome and attentive service.  All the food is freshly prepared in the central open kitchen so it’s enjoyable to watch the preparation.  I recommend you go to try the authentic and delicious Portuguese food for yourselves!

There is an outside deck for alfresco dining with lovely views of the marina.
Obrigada to the Prada family, their father Manuel would be proud of them!
