LWL Silver Award - Awarded April 2011 - Cost ££££££

July 2011 Once again we had an enjoyable meal at the Boat House this time cooked by Gavin.  The plaice was really fresh and well cooked the steak as always delicious. Zsolt made us feel special and we were given excellent service. The interesting cheese selection consisted of British cheeses, Mull of Kintyre, Hampshire Blue and Oxford Isis was much enjoyed accompanied by a Fonseca 2005 Port. Updated review S.A.

We were hoping to have Sunday lunch at the Boathouse but unfortunately our friend’s flight was delayed and so we had to cancel.  At the moment they are not open on Sunday evenings but they very kindly offered to stay open for us, such impressive customer service!

The menu consisted of a choice of 4 starters and 5 main courses, 3 puddings or cheese.

I chose the Potato Velouté with Roasted Garlic & Rocket Dressing, it was delicious. We also had Sanute Shetland Scallops Black Pudding and Pancetta, Goats Cheese Mousse & Pressed Ham and Foie gras Persilade with toasted brioche.

The mains were Rib Eye of Casterbridge Beef Hat Cut Chips and Cafe Du Paris Butter, Fillet of Atlantic Halibut & Veal Liver Sautéed Caramelised red cabbage and creamed potato all of which were beautifully presented and tasted really good!

We chose a Bitter Chocolate Fondant for pud and all had a spoon full. Absolutely yummy!

Zsolt the restaurant manager was very attentive and Danny the chef cooked everything to perfection.

We had a Chilean Merlot at £16.95 and a large glass of Rioja Rosado, £5.25.

The Boathouse (formerly Salts Kitchen) has had a modern revamp & is well worth a visit!

The bar and restaurant are open for lunch or dinner, but you are also very welcome to just enjoy freshly ground Italian Coffee or a drink at the waterside bar. They have replaced all the exterior decking so it will be a wonderful al fresco spot in the summer.

Coming in the near future will be boutique hotel rooms on the second level; we wish them well in their new venture.
