We ladies of a certain age decided we were due for a little pampering, we haven’t been out together for ages, so remembering what a marvellous time we had had on our last visit opted to return to SenSpa.  We chose the Relaxing Spa Day which includes a light breakfast (we hadn’t realised this and stupidly arrived too late for it), complimentary refreshments, a two course lunch in the Zen Garden Restaurant, A Mind and Body Class and of course use of all the Spa facilities. Do read about them and the other packages on offer on their website.

Upon arrival we were warmly greeted and then having completed our medical histories were dragged out of the very tempting and glamorous shop in reception (mainly swimwear) to have a tour of all the facilities.

Once in our cossies we were just in time to join an aqua aerobics class in the large pool, great fun and surely must have earned us some exercise points!

Then we moved on to the good sized hydrotherapy pool; being massaged by all those jets and bubbles is oh so relaxing and my favourite part of the spa.

After all this activity (!) we were starving and headed for Zen Garden, still in our cossies and white gowns; it’s all very informal. Zen Garden has a tranquil atmosphere well suited to the spa experience.

The menu was varied with a choice of 8 starters and 10 main courses; all light and healthy choices but, as we discovered, generous portions.

Our starters: Thod Mon Koong Prawn cakes, minced prawn with curry paste and kaffir lime leaves served with sweet chilli sauce, Popia Thod Spring roll filled with carrot, cabbage, mushroom, bean sprout and glass noodles, deep fried served with plum sauce, Yan Neua Beef salad, slices of grilled beef with a spicy Thai salad of red onion, mint, spring onion and coriander and Yam Pla Tuna Tuna salad in a spicy Thai dressing with red onion, spring inion, coriander and roasted cashew nuts. Our favourite was Yam Pla Tuna.

Our mains (thank God for cut & paste, saves the typing finger!) Keang Keiw Wan Chicken green curry with coconut milk, aubergine, bell pepper and kaffir lime leaves, Pad Thai Noodles Flat noodles stir fried with eggs, beans sprouts, spring onion, crushed roasted peanuts and tamarind sauce served with Chicken, for JI, or Vegetables, for SM and Tiger Prawn and Shrimp Salad Served with crisp salad leaves and balsamic dressing. Our favourite the green curry but we were all very impressed with the freshness and flavours of all the dishes, we love Thai food and this is of the highest standard.

Amazingly we had no alcohol, just stuck to water and coffee.  Zen Garden is open to all not just spa clients; check out opening times on their website.

After lunch SM, our fitness guru, did the Mind & Body Class; it was a mixture of Tai Chi, Pilates and Yoga, far too hard for the rest of us who just flopped back into the pools!

We had a wonderful day and highly recommend the experience and the food.  We  give SenSpa 25/25 but sorry no revealing pool pics of us LWL available!

SenSpa is offering 20% off Wellbeing Spa days for Ladies who Lunch Discount Card Holders.  The offer is valid Monday to Thursday until 31/7/12, subject to availability and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer.
