| | March 2011Having just finished a very enjoyable walk in the New Forest around the Brockenhurst/Sway area we ended up at this recently refurbished establishment. We were 6 and only required a snack lunch; check out the various menus on their website and you will see we were spoilt for choice. The Snake Catcher Pub has a unique speciality, well we haven’t come across it before; they bring hot volcanic rocks to the table upon which you cook your own meat, fish or vegetables! We all agreed it would be worth returning soon to try out this method. |

| So for our luncheon we chose 2 Platters to Share; we decided on the seafood basket, containing scampi, whitebait, fish fingers, beer battered cod, chips and dips… all for £7.50 and more than enough for 2 people! The batter was light and freshly cooked and therefore extremely good value. One sampled the venison sausages and mash with steamed vegetables and onion gravy £8.50 and last choice, a fisherman’s pie with vegetables for £10.95. All excellent but the favourite was the platter to share! This is a well established pub with a large garden and car park, I am sure it's a good idea to book a table, particularly in the summer. The food and friendly staff made this a pleasant end to our walk. Cost ££ (no alcohol, only coffee). | Ladies Who Lunch Scoring:Quality of food 4/5 Variety of menu 4/5 Staff and service 4/5 Ambience, setting and decor 3/5 Value for Money 4/5 for share platter!
