5 of us met up at The Heath for a farewell lunch early in January. It was heaving which is not surprising as the prices are so reasonable… chose a main course, (from £4.99) get a starter for £1.99! All details on their website. Better book it’s very popular. We really liked the décor, lots of nooks and crannies with room for both large and small tables. Cosy dining in what is really a very large area with lots of tables. I believe it has recently been refurbished. There are also a lot of al fresco tables.
Our starters included Seasonal Soup made from seasonal vegetables. Served with a chunk of tiger bread, Prawn Cocktail served on crisp salad leaves with tomato, cucumber, a classic Marie Rose sauce and brown bread and Garlic & Herb Breaded Mushrooms served with garlic mayonnaise and BBQ sauce. Our mains good old Hand-battered Fish and Chips and Freshly hand-battered fish, served with your choice of mushy or garden peas and tartare sauce, Gammon Steak served with your choice of fried eggs or grilled pineapple rings, half a grilled tomato, garden peas and chunky chips or a jacket potato Lots of choices of dressing, salad or vegetables and type of potato. Our server was friendly and patient as it took us so long to decide what to eat from such a large choice! We shared a bottle of Pinot Grigio Rosé plus 2 glasses of red. As the food was better than in some venues of this type (you know with such a large menu what to expect) we’d go again because with these prices and decor it’s such a great place to meet up even if just for a drink and a snack.
