The pub has a lovely atmosphere inside, rustic but sophisticated. We had reserved a table & at the time of booking we were informed it was ‘quiz night’. We were seated away from the quiz area. We could hear it, but it didn’t intrude on our night at all. The staff were pleasant & attentive. The menu is varied & there is a daily specials board too. Our food was as follows: Rump of Lamb with a minted gravy & bubble & squeak with vegetables on the side, Cumberland sausage with mash & vegetables, Chicken, mango & coriander salad & Poached Salmon with a potato salad which, from a lady who eats a lot of salmon, was mentioned as being one of the nicest ever! For dessert we shared their generous cheese platters & one lady had a crème brulee – yummy! We shared a bottle of their rosé wine which was good & of average price. Maybe a tad expensive for pub food but on the whole, really very good. Cost ££££ (A two course lunch specials menu is available Monday to Friday along with snacks and sandwiches from Monday to Saturday. Food is cooked all day on Saturday to Sunday, and they serve a Sunday Roast.) | Ladies Who Lunch Scoring:Quality of food 4/5 Variety of menu 4/5 Staff and service 4/5 Ambience, setting & decor 4/5 Value for Money 3/5
