We visited for lunch on the recommendation of friends. On entering we really did wonder if this could be the right place as we felt we were coming into a sports bar but once we tasted the food we understood why our friends rave about it! The staff are friendly and welcoming, they showed us to one of the banquette tables in the restaurant which is slightly screened off from the bar and quickly brought us a very well served G&T which we needed after the stress of following Google Map instructions from Southampton (Note, must get Sat Nav!). Their menu is extensive and designed to suit all tastes and requirements… Breakfast/Sandwiches & Panini’s/Light Lunch/Main Lunch & Dinner Menu (that would be for us!)/Afternoon Tea and even lunch time takeaway. They also have a 2 courses for £10 or 3 for £13 menu AND a Specials board which included a £5.00 mains selection. As you can imagine it took us a long time to decide what to eat. |

| | | Our choices: from the 3 Course Menu SA had Tempura Tiger Prawns (a £5 supp.), not surprising as they were enormous and absolutely delicious, then Beetroot and red wine risotto with gorgonzola and finished with a Dark chocolate torte with clotted cream which we all shared. I chose my starter from the main menu, Buttered asparagus salad with parmesan and balsamic and so did JI, Smoked salmon & trout gateaux with a celeriac remoulade both gorgeous to taste and to look at! JI also chose her main course from the Main menu, Thai green chicken curry with rice and an onion bhaji. I chose Lambs liver & bacon mash from the £5 menu and it was very good, just needed a little greenery to go with it but that was my fault for forgetting to order any. We then ordered Apple & almond tart fine with vanilla Ice cream which we also shared. The food was all delicious, freshly cooked, beautifully presented and generous portions! Congratulations to the chef Chris Howard who has been with Patricks since it opened. We chose a very gluggable wine; Bois des Violettes Rosé @ £16.95 and finished with coffees. Patricks is well worth seeking out to enjoy their delicious food and next time I go I’m going to make room for a fabulous looking Chocabocker Glory!
