| On a recent visit to London, we wanted to try Jamie’s and although it was Saturday and you cannot book on that day we thought we'd give it a go! Much to our amazement there were only a few queuing in front of us, perhaps because it was getting on for 2 p.m. but we only had a 5 mins wait. The place is buzzing; excellent staff and we certainly did not feel rushed even though the turnover of customers was constant. So from an interesting menu, along with the daily specials we chose the following: Starters - Beetroot and ricotta brochette - very pink and very delicious £6.50, Antipasti of assorted cured meats, Italian cheeses with chilli jam together with green chillies, Gaeta olives and caper berries, shaved root vegetables with chilli lemon and mint, all served on a plank – amazing for £6.85, Crispy fried squid served with really garlicky mayo and fab marinated chillies £5.75 |

| Mains - Prawn Linguine, I chose the starter size at £7.25, the larger portion is £12.50. An ample portion for me, lots of large juicy pan-fried prawns served with tomatoes, chillies, rocket and fennel, Crab and Squid ink risotto - starter size £8.50, main £13.50, Black creamy rice with hand-picked Start Bay Devonshire crab and crunchy herby breadcrumbs, Scallop and Squid ink spaghetti, again £8.20 starter or £13.90 main. Brixham scallops with chilli, parsley, anchovies, wine and capers. Our drinks were an Italian Messina beer at £3.65, a delicious Pinot Grigio Rose at £18.95, a large bottle of spring water £3.95 and an Americano coffee £2.00. From a yummy pudding menu we had two - an assortment of three ice creams with smashed honeycomb topping, nuts and seeds £4.50 and an assortment of fresh fruit sorbets at £4.50. Full of flavour and plenty of it! We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal, excellent flavours, and as Jamie's Italian has now opened in Gun Wharf, Portsmouth, we will certainly be trying it out. Loos are good, forget parking, we were in London and walking!!
