| Awarded 2 Rosettes by AA and Gold Award by Visit Britain. Also members of Chaine des Rotisseurs.Once again my neighbours and I were on a jolly to celebrate a birthday. We decided to go a bit further a field but only just outside of Hampshire! The Millstream is in the historic village of Bosham on the shores of Chichester Harbour. With the charm of an English country house it creates a tranquil atmosphere and certainly one to be enjoyed. We were greeted by a very friendly member of staff who turned out to be Anthony Wallace, the General Manager. In the warm ambience of the bar we enjoyed a good Chilean Merlot for £16 whilst we studied the luncheon menu. Two courses for £19 and three for £24 and when using the £5 off Times Vouchers, which we were, the same varied menu is used, check their website for full details. We were shown into the tasteful restaurant and our starters appeared on arrival, good service, particularly as they were busy. For our starters three chose twice baked blue cheese soufflé, very scrummy and filling, one home smoked salmon with horseradish cream and rye bread and lastly one smoked duck breast with pak choi, cashew nuts with sweet chilli dressing. As you can see from the photos the food was appetizing and the portion sizes good. Forgot to say we had another bottle of Chilean Merlot, well it was a birthday celebration! |

| Main courses were: fish of the day - seared cod on a bed of spinach and vegetables, fillet of sea bass with shellfish foam, potatoes crushed with crab and spinach and belly of pork with apple jus, sage confit potatoes, red cabbage. Again good portion sizes and tasty. Although we all like our vegetables al dente, the leeks, separately served, were just a little too under cooked. Sorry no puds to report on we were all too full. Congratulations Anthony your staff are courteous and efficient; being a Friday they were busy with many visitors checking in for the weekend, a very good idea we thought, we could have had another bottle of Merlot! After enjoying coffee and petit fours in the sitting room, at £3.50 each, we took a walk around the area and had the weather been better would have stayed out longer. Bosham has a fine Saxon Church and legend has it that King Canute attempted to turn back the tide here; it is featured in the Bayeux tapestry. The Millstream with its country charm and excellent food would be the perfect base for a stay to enjoy the delights of the area!
