If it’s sunny and you want a really lovely walk then I recommend you try Hengistbury Head car park to Mudeford Spit, it’s only one and a half miles and if I can do it anyone can! Hengistbury Head is a car free zone - with foot, bike or boat the favoured means of transport.   There is the 'Noddy train', a land train that runs from the Hengistbury Head car park and provides a fun way to get to The Beach House particularly if you have children. The Beach House is virtually opposite the jetty for the Ferries. The Mudeford ferry regularly makes the 5 minute journey from Mudeford Quay or you can catch a ferry from outside the Boathouse (their sister restaurant) at Christchurch Quay for a longer trip around the harbour.

It’s a lovely walk with sea and harbour  views and then there’s the sight of  all the beach huts; it  reminds you of just how lovely an English beach can be……. as long as its sunny of course!

As it was such a gorgeous day The Beach House was really busy so we were lucky to get a table.  Apparently if their flags are up, they're open!  Check out opening times etc. on their website.

We felt as if we were on holiday sitting in such surroundings.  We ordered a Pinot Blush from one of the young friendly team whilst making our choices from a varied and interesting menu.

2 of us chose the chicken Caesar salad but when it arrived they’d forgotten the chicken!  We benefited from their mistake as they very quickly arrived with a large plate of chicken & bacon to add to the salad, far more I would have thought than would have been originally included.  The rest us chose spicy prawn & mango salad which tasted as good as it looked!A delightful lunch and yes we walked all the way back to the car park where we enjoyed coffees & ice cream from the beach shop!!  The Lunch cost £££
