Holiday Inn & Morn Hill Brasserie is offering 10% discount on all food (restaurant & bar) for lunch & dinner 7 days a week!

The Holiday Inn in Winchester (only 2 miles from the town centre and with no parking probs) is a really attractive venue and an ideal place to meet up with friends.  It’s very new and is the first of its modern design in the UK. We loved the décor and urge you to look at the gallery on their website to appreciate it. The exterior of the building does not give any clues to the impressive interior.

On walking through reception we noted that on all the tables there are push button bells for service! You can eat from the bar menu in the many different areas; being so near the motorway it looks like it’s a popular and convenient rendezvous spot for business people.

Downstairs, as well as the AA Rosette starred restaurant, there is the bar and a very smart terrace; a shame it wasn’t nice enough on our visit to eat al fresco.

The restaurant area (now called Morn Hill Brasserie) is large but because of clever screen partitions you feel you are in a much smaller and more intimate venue.

At the moment they only have an A la Carte menu but we were told plans to introduce a set lunch time menu are being discussed and if you want to you can eat off the bar menu (see this on their web site) in the restaurant. Of course you can only have one course but not us!

Our starters: Palma Ham, mozzarella, sun bushed tomatoes & homemade olive bread, Ham Hock Terrine, fennel purée, homemade Scotch egg, Seared Scallops, roasted chorizo sausage, aged balsamic, rocket salad and Goats Cheese Mousse, spiced walnuts, char-grilled apple salad. They were all absolutely delicious and this was when we realised that this was going to be a really special lunch. My choice of the goats cheese combined with the spiced walnuts was so unusual that I want to go back to have it again very soon!

The mains: Calves liver, red onions, horseradish mash, crispy pancetta. Surf ‘n Turf, filet steak, garlic tiger prawns, hand cut chips, Seared Sea Bass Filet, marinated fennel, vine tomatoes and Rump of Lamb, champ potato, roasted vegetables, mint jus. Everything was cooked to perfection tasted wonderful and generously sized portions.

Just two puds to share; a very refreshing Glazed Lemon Tart with raspberry sorbet and a Dark Chocolate & Nut Brownie with praline ice cream. The latter should have been described as a large selection of nuts in chocolate and we all agreed it was the best brownie we have ever tasted!

We had very friendy and efficient service from Karen the restaurant manager; its always a pleasure when you can have all your food queries answered!

A delicious lunch and we highly recommend.  If you have one don’t forget your Discount Card! Cost with 1 bottle of wine: ££££££££

Please help to spread the word by telling any restaurants you visit that you tried them because you were recommended by LWL in Hampshire... Thank you! .
