On a cold Monday night when we were feeling the need for a curry we came across Tamarinds, a cosy little restaurant in Woolston. One of my friends had had take away from here and thoroughly enjoyed it, no home delivery at present, Tamarinds has only been open for a short time but this service is planned for the future. On Sunday and Monday they do a buffet consisting of a selection of starters, main courses, vegetable accompaniments, rice and bread. All you can eat, served from 6pm to 10 pm £10.50 per adult and £5.50 per child (under 12). Although we were there on a Monday we decided on choices from the extensive menu. We started with Tamarinds Mix Special (for 2 people sharing £5.95 per head), it consists of a selection of Khumbi Pancake, Aloo Chat, Tamarind King Prawn, Nazakati & Lamb Tikka. Very delicious and enough for a light lunch!! Our main courses were Lamb Tikka £6.50, two Dansak dishes one Chicken £6.10 and one Prawn £7.50, last Lamb Achari, a spicy hot lamb stew made to a central Bangladeshi recipe, it features a special sauce made with fresh coriander, lime and green chilli for a distinctive flavour £7.50. To accompany our dishes a mushroom rice £2.95 and Peswar Naan £2.50. Together with wine and gin and tonics, no dessert or coffee, our bill came to £20 per head. The Staff were lovely and because the waiter realised it was one of the girls birthday he presented her with a bottle of Rosé, what a nice touch and at this stage he didn't know I was from LWL!
