Revisited July 2011 We recently returned to this restaurant to try out the lunch menu, such good value at one course for £7.25 or two for £10.95. See their website for full menu. From a choice of 5 starters we enjoyed the following - Aubergine layers with tomato and basil or if you're Italian, Melanzana Alla Parmigiana! Antipasto Misto, Chef's selection of typical meats, gerkins etc. and Melon fan with seasonal fruit and raspberry coulis. From a choice of 6 Main courses we chose - Vegetarian Cannelloni - pasta tubes filled with ricotta cheese & spinach in Napolitano sauce topped with mozzarella & served with garlic bread. Fillet of Sea Bass drizzled with citrus butter and served with seasonal vegetables. Pollo Alla Milanese - breaded escalope of chicken, served with spaghetti alla Napolentana. Fegata Alla Veneziana - calves of liver with bacon, onions and red wine sauce served with seasonal vegetables. All presented well and ample portions with yummy flavours. We enjoyed a house red with our meal. Unfortunately we were all too full to enjoy the delicious looking homemade puddings that were presented to the table! Next time we won't have the starters! Booking is recommended, they were busy! It has been open since 1997 and still run by the Passarelli family. We thought it was about time we tried it out. There is a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. It will be a great venue for al fresco dining in the warmer months. They advise that all dishes are freshly prepared on the premises using predominately locally sourced produce. They have a large menu and a set lunch menu, 1 course for £7.25 and 2 courses for £10.95. Two of us went for dinner. Our wine: there was only 1 choice of Rosé at £19 and a Chianti at £20. No starters, our mains, 1 Duck in amaretto, sherry & red wine - nice but just tasted like rich gravy and 1 Lemon sole both served with potato & vegetables. Pud - 2 crème brulees – they bring all the puds round to show you instead of giving you a menu which is so nice as it’s much easier to choose when you can see what they look like! We shared cheese & biscuits and finished with double espressos. Cost £58 per person. |
