As this is a private members club it is really unfair to do a report as, unless you join or know a member, you will not be lucky enough to eat here! We are very lucky as we not only know a member but a very generous one who treated us to a delicious lunch. A big thank you to him!
I have read a lot about this club as it is used by many "celebs" and so I was very surprised when I entered as it has the atmosphere & decor of a Gentleman's Club. I think I expected it to be very minimalist with lots of chrome & stripped floors! It is very in keeping with the exterior pictured above.
We had drinks in the bar sitting on lovely squashy sofas. I had a killer Gin & Slimline, in other words you could actually taste the gin and my fellow Lady Luncher had, on the barman's recommendation, a Bloody Mary. She said it was delicious, apparently he mixes them with horseradish.
The dining room was busy but the service was attentive without being intrusive. I hate waiters fussing too much!
My starter was Warm Goats Cheese & Fig Surprise, absolutely delicious, followed by Thai Fish Cakes with a sweet chilli dip, also yummy. Other starters which everyone enjoyed were, Potted Shrimps, Pan fried Quail with wild mushroom risotto, Clam & Chilli Tagellini. Main courses were Roast Grouse, far too pink for my taste, Roast Monkfish with Butterbeans & Chorizo, Tiger Prawn Phad Thai Noodles & a Fillet Steak. We finished with a lovely & very fresh fruit salad. A very varied and delightful menu.
Our host ordered the copious bottles of wine and I hate to think what the cost per head was! We had a really enjoyable lunch in atmospheric surroundings, just as it should be!
9/10 and
Just sorry
that not everyone can share our enjoyment!

| The higher the "Yummy" factor, the better the food & service. The higher the number of £ signs the more expensive. ( Roughly one £ sign = £5 per head ) |
