Revisited February 2006

Happy to find that this charming restaurant is as popular as ever.  We decided to try the Telegraph & Times offers and were not disappointed. The £5 & £7.50 daily menu for two or three courses is normally double this price but it is still very reasonable as with it comes friendly service, a good atmosphere and very boaty views. It must be buzzing in the summer.
I chose a Salad of Watercress with Roasted Tomatoes & shaved Parmesan followed by The Haven Fish Pie both were delicious.
The a la carte menu has interesting choices and also daily Fish Specials. Entrees approx £7 mains £10 - £16.

If you are looking for something different to do on a Sunday may I suggest you start your day with breakfast at THE HAVEN, Lymington.  (Don't be put off by the barriers at the entrance to the marina they open automatically when your car approaches and there is parking inside.)  In amongst the array of yachts you will find the Marine Offices and the Bistro on two levels.  The views looking to the Isle of Wight are the best in town.

Breakfast is served from 9 to 11am on a buffet-style.  Today I sampled everything, on your behalf, and since one serves ones self from the heated containers the portions are in ones own control!! Fried eggs, bacon, sausage, beans, mushrooms, whole baked tomatoes and (the ultimate sin) fried bread.  Toast and jams, plus tea or coffee.

(If you are feeling fluffy other fancy lattes and chocolate drinks are available or a 'hair of the dog' all at extra cost.)

If you were thinking of going for a walk on the sea walls you could be back in time for a fabulous Sunday Roast served from 12 - 4 pm (table reservation needed for this popular event).

Lunch and Dinner are served every day of the week.  A 2-course or three-course set lunch, which rotates on a weekly basis, as well as the al a carte menu.  Menus are varied and interesting.

This venue has recently been taken over by Rob Smith and together with his very attractive staff the atmosphere is welcoming, upbeat and efficiently run.  Try it - I think you will agree.

The higher the "Yummy" factor, the better the food & service.  The higher the number of £ signs the more expensive.  ( Roughly one £ sign = £5 per head )
