This venue is one of my best out of Hampshire finds; it's just an hour away in the Oxfordshire countryside.  Fyfield is a small hamlet with pretty houses, an old church and a great pub steeped in history dating back to the 15th century.

I have enjoyed several lunches here at The White Hart and it has always been a delightful experience with charming surroundings, very friendly staff and excellent food. There is a spacious garden and close by the veggie patch which is a sight to behold and so well attended that one can be sure they use locally grown fresh vegetables!  Do checkout their website re their history and I hope you will agree it is a very worthwhile lunch venue.

As an added bonus we had some telegraph tokens giving 2 for 1 main courses.  However that didn't stop us having a starter and dessert since we specifically visited The White Hart to enjoy their tempting menu.

For our starters we chose: Chicken liver parfait, with spiced apricot chutney;  Homemade pea soup; Beetroot and feta roulade with citrus dressing.

Our mains were:  Scotch rib-eye steak, mushroom, chips and Dijon & tarragon butter; Fillet of sea bass, Brixham crab, new potatoes and basil vinaigrette; Fish board with salmon gravadlax, roll mops, crayfish tails, crevettes, smoked mackerel pate and a potato salad; Lamb rack served with fresh garden peas and crushed potatoes.

Desserts: Sticky toffee pudding, Summer pudding.

We were all happy with our choices, servings were adequate and of fine quality.

There is also a daily set menu.

Starters range from £5.50 - £7       Mains: £13.50 - £18   Sharing Boards: £11 - £14

I highly recommend!
