This is now owned by the same people who have the excellent Plough Inn at Sparsholt, (see report in Ancient History). It already has a well deserved reputation for it's food and is very busy particularly at weekends. Both the pub and the village of Crawley are very quaint, just the sort of places you would love to show off to visiting Americans!
There were 17 of us and so we were given, with prior approval, a briefer version of the normal menu. Still many varied choices. I had a Minted melon, and strawberry starter (£4.95) which had such a delicious flavour I nearly had it again for pudding! Several of us had, and really enjoyed, Chicken and coconut balti (£8.95) as a main course. Another favourite was Thai Lemon grass salmon salad (£8.95). There was a Chocolate and coconut Ganache pudding to die for and a Blackberry and pernod parfait, will power flew out of the window, all puds £3.95. The house white was a delicious Australian Chardonnay and I believe the "red" drinkers were happy as well. We had good service from young and friendly staff. A very successful evening especially as I was lucky enough not to be one of the drivers and could enjoy a drink (or 2!).
Cost £ £ £ £ £ £ ( This was including pre dinner drinks at the bar.)
Yummy factor 9/10

| The higher the "Yummy" factor, the better the food & service. The higher the number of £ signs the more expensive. ( Roughly one £ sign = £5 per head ) |
