This was a meeting of "computerised" ladies! One is an IT specialist, one a web designer, one is in PR, one runs 2 sites & then there was SM & me, the amateurs! We had great conversation & delicious food in a lovely old pub atmosphere. Immediately we walked in the door both the owner Rob & the staff gave a warm welcome. The attractive interior of the pub is enhanced with copious vases of pink lilies, they looked & smelt stunning. We were given a large jug of iced water as soon as we sat at the table & it was constantly replenished, a thoughtful touch not to have to constantly ask for water as most of us were driving.
Rob told us he has now owned The Fox for 2 years & seems to be successfully achieving his goal of making it a pub again but a pub that serves high quality food at reasonable prices. He came to the table, explained the menu & described the specials of the day. He has a certain twinkle about him ladies & seemed to enjoy our banter but he's a terrible liar as he promised that their yummy puds are calorie free! Suggest you check out their web site to read all the menus which apparently change monthly. Our choices........

Deep fried Camembert with sweet onion relish & redcurrant jelly |
From the daily specials, Dived Scallops, pan fried on salad leaves with sweet chilli dressing |
A house speciality & a meal in itself, Cheese Soufflé served with cheese sauce & salad. Note the beautiful butter flower! |

Mains: a daily special, Fish Pie (4 fish, no shellfish) topped with potatoes & melted cheese |
Vegetable Stack, on rosti potatoes, peppers, tomato, char-grilled aubergine & courgette, topped with soft mozzarella
|
Lamb Shank, slow cooked in red wine & rosemary on mashed potatoes with mixed vegetables |
| The only main course not pictured is SM's, she chose, from the daily specials, a kilo of Shetland Mussels steamed in white wine & garlic & served in an enormous tureen. She declared them delicious & in fact we were all very delighted with both the flavour & the presentation of our choices. | ||

Although really stuffed we could not resist the home made (& calorie free of course!) puddings. Two of us had their stunning creation, the Fresh Pineapple Alaska (on left) fresh pineapple & ice cream baked with a soft meringue top, two had Sticky date pudding served with Very Vanilla ice cream, one the Crème Brulee with Autumn fruit compote & one Stem Ginger ice cream, all to die for! We finished with coffees. We enjoyed 2 bottles of wine. They have a beautiful garden for the summer months. |
