The Ferry Restaurant is based in the Elephant Boatyard off the A27 near the Bursledon Railway Bridge.  As the  name suggests it was a chain link ferry - now static and seats around 40.  It is open Wednesday thru to Sunday lunch and dinner 11.30am - 2.0pm & 6.30pm - late.

Although a three course Christmas  meal is available @ £20.95 per head we decided to have the Al a Carte.  We were the only 4 in the restaurant last Thursday but because there was live music it was a good atmosphere.  Live music is played each evening up until Christmas and booking is advisable.  Normally there is live music on Thurs, Fri & Sat evenings.

Although there was a good selection of starters, averaging £5.95 each we went straight into our main courses which were one Scottish Beef Fillet in red wine sauce £18.50. One Polenta served with red onion marmalade and tomato £12.95.  One Fillet Sea Bass served with lemon and dill veloute £14.95.  Lastly a Lamb Shank in rich gravy £14.95.  All served with sauté potatoes and vegetable selection at no extra charge.  The portions were generous, well presented and cooked.  We enjoyed!

Our Puddings were a Bread and Butter and cream, 2 Caramelised Plums with cream and meringue, and one Treacle Pudding and custard.  All priced at £4.95 and very good.  We had 2 bottles of  Red Wine @ £12.95 and 4 coffees.

The higher the "Yummy" factor, the better the food & service.  The higher the number of £ signs the more expensive.  ( Roughly one £ sign = £5 per head )
