This is what a pub should look like, lots of old character, open fires, low beams etc.  The pub has been extended but in keeping with rest of the building.

Four of us went for meal on a Thursday in January and the place was busy, so recommend that you book.  We decided not to have starters as we were four women watching our weight after Christmas !!!  Our choices - 8oz fillet stilton steaks £14.50 excellent, 8oz poached salmon steak in a hollandaise sauce £9.95 very good, fresh seafood platter £10.95 which consisted of sole fillets, salmon, fillet, mussels, king prawns cooked garlic butter, and lastly sardines, but chef sent me more sole and a larger piece of salmon to makeup for not having any fresh sardines left, all very good.  Selection of vegetables, salads, new and jacket potatoes all included in the main course prices.

The sweets, yes I know we were supposed to be good, however, one treacle sponge and one sticky toffee pudding with custard were good and one Tartufo ice cream which sounded yummy was tasteless andso was a Mela Grand Marnier ice cream .  All puds £3.50 each. House Wine was reasonable at £8.95 and apart from the puddings the food was good.  Good atmosphere and friendly staff.

Cost £ £ £ £

Yummy Factor 7/10

The higher the "Yummy" factor, the better the food & service.  The higher the number of £ signs the more expensive.  ( Roughly one £ sign = £5 per head )
