Revisited April 2006

Very pleased to report the staff are still very friendly & still serving excellent food!  SM

Visited March 2004

This Restaurant is part of a chain, all following the  theme of being situated in lovely old buildings of character.  Edwinns in Fareham is Georgian. A real bonus, being in the heart of Fareham, they have their own car park at the rear of the restaurant.  We have already reviewed their Harefield  Middlesex venue, (on Out of Hants page) &, as it received a high rating, we were really looking forward to our lunch!  We were not dissapointed.

All 4 Ladies Who Lunch got together there yesterday and found it had a great atmosphere with very friendly staff, booking would seem essential as it was busy.  Menus & opening times on their website.

We had their set lunch menu @ £10.95 for 2 courses.  We started with Thai Fish Cakes with Sesame Stir Fry Vegetables and Sweet Chili Sauce.  A large bowl of Red Pepper Soup with Crunchy Bread. Smoked Haddock Kedgeree with Light Curry Sauce and lastly, Sweet Melon, Fresh Fruits with a Passion Fruit Coulis.  All excellent flavours and well presented, the favourite was the Kedgeree.

Main courses, two chose  Edwinns Fish Pie with Leek, Spinach and Mashed Potato topping ( very yummy), one Baked Salmon Fillet with Pesto Crumb, Sautéed Spinach and Fresh Tomato Sauce, & one Marinated Chargrilled Chicken with Mediterranean Vegetables and Herb Jus.  Good selection of fresh market vegetables.  Good size portions enjoyed by all!

Feeling full but for research purposes we had one delicious Almond and Blueberry Tart with Raspberry Coulis and one Cheese and Biscuits, which consisted of about 5 different cheeses, a selection of biscuits, grapes and celery, excellent value.  All Puddings are £4.75 each.  We finished with coffees and, together with a good South African Chenin Blanc @ £12.95 & 4 G & T's

Cost, including tip. just under £ £ £ £ £

Yummy Factor 8/10

Report by SM, and well worth a visit.

The higher the "Yummy" factor, the better the food & service.  The higher the number of £ signs the more expensive.  ( Roughly one £ sign = £5 per head )
