Danesfield House is the place to go for a real treat! It is an absolutely beautiful country house hotel with wonderful views of the Thames and their landscaped gardens from the terraces behind the very attractive building. Part of the restaurant is in a long conservatory at the back of the hotel but we sat in the rather grand dining room for our lunch which slightly lacked atmosphere as we were the only people there. Fortunately we were seven and made more than enough noise!
Our meal was different! Some of the starters were large portions, some small and the same applied for the main courses and puds. For example I had a chicken salad for a starter and it was far larger than my meat main course. My sweet was chocolate pudding which arrived in an enormous soup plate! But it was all beautifully served and the staff were friendly and attentive. We adjourned to a delightful room with a minstrel gallery and a large open fire place for coffee. As we were guests I have no idea of the price but would guess £25-£30 per head. It would be a lovely place to stay for a weekend break as the surroundings are so stunning.
