Having heard that this pub had been recently taken over by the couple who used to own the La Rouille restaurant in Milford On Sea we decided we ought to give it a try.  The pub now has a small bar area with most of the rest of the pub set out as a restaurant.  There is parking on the road outside the front of the building but the pub has it’s own car park to the rear.  Disabled access was good.

To start with I chose my usual favourite of Pan Fried Scallops whilst my fellow diners picked the Mussels cooked in garlic and cream and the other had an Asparagus and Oyster Mushroom salad with bacon lardons.  The portions were generous and were well received.

For our main course my companions had the Liver and Bacon, and the Pork Medallions.  I had the half shoulder of Lamb which was very tender and fell off the bone.  To accompany the main courses we were given a selection of vegetables, a side salad, and a large bowl of lovely thin cut chips!  We also sampled two bottles of the house Pinot.

Having paced ourselves we all had room for sweets.  We chose the Sticky Toffee Pudding and Toffee Sauce, the Strawberry Cheesecake, and Pan Fried Bananas in Butterscotch sauce with ice cream.

All the food tasted as delicious as it looks, the staff were alert and friendly despite being very busy because the restaurant was full. It appeared a few people were being turned away so I would suggest booking to be certain of a table! Obviously good news travels fast!  We will certainly be returning.

Cost = £112 for 3 x 3 courses, pre dinner drinks, 2 bottles of wine & coffees.
