To add to the enjoyment of our outing to the musical - The Music Man we booked a pre theatre lunch at the "Brasserie in the Park" situated close to the entrance of the theatre. Parking is close by although one needs to allow extra time as there were more cars than spaces plus I believe it was market day on Wednesday.

The restaurant has an attractive light and friendly atmosphere overlooking Oaklands Park. We had an excellent lunch served very efficiently and in good time for the 2pm commencement of the show.

The menu has a choice of four starters, four main courses and four desserts. £15.50 for 2 courses, £20 for 3 courses. Good value.

Our starters were: Duck and Madeira Terrine with toasted brioche and fig and balsamic chutney and Galia melon and Crayfish salad with lime and chervil mayonnaise.

For mains: Rump of Lamb with crushed new potatoes with rosemary, green beans and red wine jus, Roasted Salmon with sweet potato, lemon grass and coriander, beans and red chilli dressing and Spicy Cold Breast of Chicken, Greek salad, rocket and parsley oil.

We were all delighted with our choices, they were well presented and generous servings. We chose the 2 course menu and shared a bottle of Corta Vingy Pinot Grigio Rose @ £12.00

The higher the "Yummy" factor, the better the food & service. The higher the number of £ signs the more expensive. ( Roughly one £ sign = £5 per head )
