This is a great Bar and
Restaurant with atmosphere and contemporary surroundings, but if you are hard
of hearing don't go on a Friday night! We did and had a great evening,
the place was very busy but with efficient and friendly staff so we were not
kept waiting. We ate in the restaurant but there is also a bar area, where
smoking is allowed, and an ample size terrace for al fresco dining.
The food is a mixture of British
and Continental made from fresh ingredients with several choices for
vegetarians. There is a daily specials printed menu which is presented
along with the dinner menu. We ate the following - Starters, 2 Oriental
Duck Spring Rolls, cucumber salad and Hoi Sin Sauce from the specials menu £5.95.
Cod & pecorino fishcake, cos salad, lemon mayo £5.50 and lastly Penne,
chilli, tomato, marinated vegetables, mozzarella and mint £5.25. All
dishes served on very unusual and attractive china.
Our main courses were Roast Cod
in pancetta, fried champ - mash and spring onions mix - pea and mint roast
garlic pesto £12.00. Cajun Chicken, roasted pepper salad, sauté
potatoes and mint yogurt dressing £10.95. Tiger prawn & scallop
skewers, Cajun potato & spring onion salad, lemon and red chard £14.00.
Lastly, Salad of pan fried calves liver, sauté potatoes, bacon, red onion,
mustard mayo £12.95.
We were all too full for
puddings but there was a good choice starting at £5.25. We shared a
cheese platter @ £6.95, plenty for 4, good choice of cheeses. Good
comments from my friends who all said they would return, and as the cost
included tip, 2 bottles of wine, 4 Tanquery G&T's, plus coffees we were
impressed & recommend a visit!
