5 of us met here for lunch, we were lucky, as it was such a beautiful day we could sit in the peaceful garden. The tables were rustic benches & rather wobbly but never mind it added to the country atmosphere!
The pub is very old fashioned & rural, a Free House offering a host of real ales. They didn't appeal to us but their Pinot Grigio did, it was excellent & £14.95 a bottle. The main problem was getting it, we had to wait a long time at the bar for service, we also had to wait to order the food. As it was a hot day, they have such a lovely garden & are on the banks of The Itchen, I would have thought they would have expected to be busy.
A large selection of either snacks or full meals on their regularly changing chalk boards.

The first choice was Thai Fish Cakes, my friend asked for this starter as a main course, she was not happy with them, rather tasteless even though they looked attractive. Also a bit miffed that they charged double the price of the starter. |

S.M. tried the Trout fillets, very generous portion (she'd eaten some by the time I took the pic!) & delicious! Served with crunchy fresh vegetables. |

J.I. decided on the Roast Beef Baguette which was served with masses of chips but they were rather dry. |

Us last 2 with delicate appetites (I wish!) chose sandwiches, one white bread with Bacon & Guacamole & one Gammon on brown. They were delicious, very fresh bread, generous fillings & accompanied by a beautifully dressed salad & crisps. |

We finished with coffees. To sum up, 3 of us were very pleased, 2 not so happy, & none of us pleased with the service. BUT would still revisit as The Bush such an attractive venue. Cost £ £ £ Yummy Factor 7/10 Report C.J.

| The higher the "Yummy" factor, the better the food & service. The higher the number of £ signs the more expensive. ( Roughly one £ sign = £5 per head ) |
