Congratulations to chef Lennie
Carr-Roberts and Francesca Luckett, the new owners of this very tasteful
eatery for both the food and the decor. The Bugle was closed for sometime
but due to the persistence of the villagers in fighting plans for its
redevelopment it was recently re-opened
and am I sure it will do very well.
We were five for lunch on
Monday 30th June and although outside dining was available we chose to sit
inside. Plenty of parking by the way, in their own car park to the left
before the pub under an archway! We all went for the lunchtime menu rather
than the snack menu, both are available between 12 & 3 Monday -
Saturday.
From a choice of 6 starters two had avocado,
prawn and crab salad, served with a light seafood dressing, £5.95 or £10.95
for main course. Two had fresh seared scallops, with crispy bacon and lemon
dressing £6.95/£12.95 for main course, and one fig and Parma ham salad
served with Laverstoke mozzarella, olives and dressing £5.95.
Three of the starters could be chosen as main
courses plus another 5 choices so we tried a Laverstoke pork chop with
mustard sauce, mash and side salad £12.95. Two had roast butternut and
goats cheese risotto served with feta salad £11.95. One a fresh Sashimi tuna
steak, grilled pink and served with green beans, egg. fresh anchovies,
potatoes and lemon dressing £12.95. Last choice a char grilled free range
chicken topped with tomato, Parma ham, olives, basil & mozzarella plus feta
salad £11.95.
From the pudding menu, of which there was a
choice of 6, we only had the vanilla ice cream and espresso shot £5.25 and a
fresh mango, with Malibu and coconut ice cream £5.25 but obviously with 5
spoons!
We all felt that you don't need long lists of
choices to be completely satisfied, it makes the decisions easier and you
know everything is freshly cooked. The two young waiters were
extremely polite and very attentive, even though the place was busy.
Forgot to say the bottle of Rioja @ £15.95 was excellent, together with the
freshly brewed coffee with Amaretto biscuits. We were five very
satisfied people who will return!
