Revisited February 2007 3 of us enjoyed a delicious lunch and once again it was excellent value.  You will all be pleased to hear Enrique has found love (see below) BUT he still charms the ladies and gives attentive service!  As usual Brookley's is a delight to visit, highly recommended.

Revisited October 2006 Delighted to report still up to the excellent standard that we found on our first visit! CJ

Visited February 2006

We first visited Brookleys a year ago & it was good then but now it is excellent!  So pleased we chose it as a central point for us to meet for our first lunch together since my return from Oz.  What a lovely venue, decor very modern & minimalist.  Everything is very tastefully done including the loos & their web site (check it out for their menus, prices, opening times etc).   Great ambiance & as it was very busy, with only 30 covers inside, recommend booking.  (Terrace available for the Summer months).  All the staff are very efficient but also friendly & therefore add to the enjoyment!  All you younger ladies had better get there quickly, our waiter, the charming Enrique (also known as Manuel) is looking for love!

Last time we were here we sampled some of their many delicious lite bites but this time we decided to enjoy the full menu.  Whilst making our choices we had a perfectly mixed G&T, lots of ice, zest of lemon, a slice of lime & most importantly the tonic was presented in it's own bottle so we could decide how much to add (not a lot!).

All the dishes are beautifully presented on Villeroy & Bosh china, yes we did turn the plates over to have a look, such gorgeous shapes.  Our starters were L-R Thai Crab Soufflé with Asian Condiments (these included very morish peanuts roasted with sesame seeds & ginger slices), Goats Cheese Rarebit with Sticky Figs, Roquette & Cherry Tomatoes (the favourite choice), & Portobello Mushrooms with Smoked Bacon, Garlic Breadcrumbs & Sherry Vinegar.  The 4th choice was a delicious Mussel & Crayfish Chowder, very substantial & would make a great snack lunch with crunchy bread, sorry no picture, soup doesn't make for an exciting photo!

Mains: L-R Catch of the Day was Gilt Head Bream, it was delicious as were the accompanying new potatoes & dressed salad, 8 Hour Slow Braised Chinese Pork, Stir Fried Vegetables, Noodles & Honey & Ginger Sauce, and 2 of us had the best scallops I have ever tasted, Seared Cajun Spiced Scallops with Parsnip & Asian Pesto.  The Scallops & The Bream were the daily specials.

The puddings are always my favourite part of the meal, we had 3 & shared them.  The Hot Chocolate Fondant with Mint Choc Chew Ice Cream was seriously stunning!  (Allow 15-20 mins for preparation, gave us time to finish our bottle of Pinot Grigio).  The hot chocolate sauce that oozed out when the pud was attacked was so yummy as was the very chewy ice cream!  Next Mocha Crème Brulée with Cinnamon Tuiles, & Banana Parfait with Ginger Biscuits.  What a delicious lunch!  We finished with coffee.

The restaurant manager Matt was pleased to hear how impressed we were with everything  especially when we told him we were LWL, he brought Gareth the chef to meet us, very happy we got the chance to compliment him.  After only being open for just over a year they deserve the success they appear to be enjoying.  They say they are looking forward to welcoming lots more lady lunchers (& diners) so remember to mention us when you book!

Cost £ £ £ £ £  well we did have 3 courses, several drinks & it was a very special lunch!  It is possible to eat excellent food at very reasonable prices here, check out the menus on their website.

Yummy Factor 9½/10 perfection for all Ladies who Lunch!

The higher the "Yummy" factor, the better the food & service.  The higher the number of £ signs the more expensive.  ( Roughly one £ sign = £5 per head )
