Brookleys has been a favourite venue of LWL
for sometime but as its now under new ownership I was anxious to revisit
to do a tasting. I have to say it was a delightful experience which I
am sure you will agree when you sample the fine cuisine and meet the
enthusiastic team waiting to serve you. Jean Marc, the new owner,
was formerly the owner of the Patisserie in Brockenhurst and has been in the
food business for many years as has his chef Bill who is up to date with his
culinary skills. He uses fresh local produce and presents very
attractive tasty meals.
The decor is charming and whilst we were
there the local artist Brian Beasley was planning to adorn the walls with
his fine abstract oil paintings which are just perfect for this
bistro setting. (For a preview of his work have a look at
www.brianbeasley.co.uk )
The seating is for up to 35 persons so
advisable to book if you are dining with a large group.
We chose from The Midweek Special Lunch menu,
but there are also lite bites, salads, baguettes and daily blackboard
specials on offer. The midweek Special lunch has a good selection
of three starters, three mains and two desserts (2 courses for £10.95 3
courses for 13.95). Our choices were:
For starters: Feta Cheese Salad with sun
dried tomatoes and black olives and Smoked Salmon Roulade. For mains: Pan
Fried Chicken Breast with
parmesan mash & fresh thyme jus and
Filet of Sea Bream with
lemon butter sauce. Both served with a selection
of freshly cooked vegetables.

For Dessert: Sticky Toffee Pudding and Warm
Caramelised Apple Tartan.
We were extremely happy
and satisfied with our delicious food, our friendly waitress Kat and
the attention of Jean Marc. What more could two "ladieswholunch" wish for!
Brookleys Christmas Menu, available from December 2nd - 20th,
looks very inviting. Do check it out under Special Events on
their website (lots of other info on there as well). Booking
recommended.
