This delightful patisserie is really more of a take away as they only have a very few tables with high stools, they don't take bookings & there is no loo. The food would be equally enjoyable either eaten in or out. It is quite small & as soon as you enter you are faced with a mouth watering display of home made goodies. It is obviously popular as it was very busy & from the snippets I overheard from customers, has a large regular fan base! Julie Brown, my good friend who created The Winchester Diet, is one of those fans, she invited us to join her & she gave us permission to indulge our sweet tooths!
First the savouries, it was hard to make a choice but the very friendly staff were more than willing to offer advice. Julie chose a bacon & brie baguette, masses of bacon & cheese, SM a heated pannini with a ham & gruyere filling, & I decided on an individual quiche Lorraine. Then to the best bit! The individual French type fruit flans looked yummy. We had a pear & almond, an apricot & a plum & shared them between us, delicious! The flans are available full size & would be a wonderful cheat for a dinner party! We had several coffees (no alcohol served) & finished with gorgeous Belgian type chocolates, again all homemade.
Cost: hard to say as we were guests but baguettes were about £3, slightly less for take away, soup of the day was £2, good value for money considering the quality of the food.
