Visited April 2009

Out of the many choices of eateries in Gun Wharf I am sure this one will do well.  Having visited the Winchester Brasserie Blanc recently I suggested to the friends I was meeting for lunch that we try this one to compare.   We were not disappointed, the dine with wine menu - see their site for full details - was an excellent choice.  The venue is very smart and based away from the waterfront next to Gunwharf Quay's Plaza, Units 113/4.  It opened opened lst April 2009 !!!

Our choices were soused mackerel and grilled goats cheese with apple salad, followed by pan fried pork sirloin with spring greens and potato.  Two chose grilled ocean perch, prawn potatoes with rosemary butter.  Our lovely waitress suggested a salad with the fish as no green vegetables are included so we chose a rocket and parmesan salad and although an extra, was well worth it.  We finished with coffee and no extra drinks.  Our 175ml glass of Domaine St Jean Conques and Chateau St Chinian Merlot included in the price were just right as we were all drivers!   Same excellent value, portion size and service as Winchester, Raymond certainly trains his staff well!

Lunch £11.90 two courses, £14.35 for three.  Dinner £15.40 for two and £17.85 for three.  There is also an option to upgrade your wine to a glass of Joseph Perrier Champagne for just £2.50.   The menus are changed every 6 weeks, we visited on the 29th April and this menu was 3 weeks old.  A thoroughly enjoyable lunch!
